Tips on keeping your Motorcycle clean by glmsales.co.uk

Wednesday, August 19, 2009

It is well worth using a scooter or motorcycle for getting around the town or city. Those short trips to the football game or local store don’t have to be bimonthly occasion when you have a two wheeler that you can just park and forget. If maintained well, you will be amazed to see the amount you can save on insurance premiums and non essential repairs. Get your motorbike filled only once, follow a rigorous maintenance schedule and see its average constantly improving.

Routine maintenance also ensures safety of you as well as others on the road. If you did not get a handbook with specs on your motorcycle at the time of buying it, you should try to get one. If that seems too difficult to you, you can also search for some suggestions on daily, weekly and monthly check up of your vehicle online. There are many forums that allow users to register and be a part of ongoing discussions. You can also check workshop manuals which are made available for almost all the new models. Many of these manuals are available to buy in the form of a CD or DVD.

Things you can’t ignore and should be a part of your check-up on your motorcycle include:
- Tires should be in good condition. Find out about the recommended tyre pressure from the spec as it is very important to maintain the accurate tire pressure. Under-inflated tyres adversely affect handling and make the ride uneven. Over inflated tyres cause motorcycle prone to damage from surface hazards.
- Verify that the Mobil oil is at the sufficient level and at the time of this checking, ensure that your bike is standing on a levelled ground.
- Regularly clean the body surface of the two-wheeler to maintain its surface finish. Ensure that the ignition switch unit, and silencer are covered before beginning the cleaning process.
- Brakes should be functioning properly.
- Inspect for any leakage from battery. It should be always be clean and free from any leakages. Even if you are planning not to use motorcycle for a long time, the battery should be kept fully charged with electrolyte level touching the top mark.

- Check wheel bearings by grabbing wheels with it off the ground and observe if there is any sideways play.

- Also check swinging arm bearings with the back wheel off the ground
These suggestions are for basic maintenance that you can do on your own. Any major job or complete overhauling needs to be done by a mechanic. Abiding by these routine steps will ensure that every moment you step on the road, your ride is safe. You can also browse through Glmsales.co.uk, a leading scooter and motorcycle store in London and get in touch with them regarding any of your questions about motorcycles.

What Do you Think About the New Bike Test?

In UK, you must apply for a provisional licence before you begin to learn a bike. Even if you already hold a valid driving licence for a car or lorry, you will still need provisional entitlement for driving a bike. After you get a provisional licence, you will have to take the theory test to get a full licence. Theory test has 50 questions that must be answered in 57 minutes and you must get 43 marks out of 50 in order to pass the test.

The second part of driving theory test covers hazard perception test and you need to pass both to qualify for the licence. Once you have successfully cleared the theory test, you can then apply for practical driving test. The cost of test is £80 and expected to be raised to £90.50, which is a pre-planned annual increment done in October 2009.

The practical test commences with an eyesight check, general vehicle safety questions, and specific manoeuvres. A typical driving part of test lasts for 40 minutes in which the examiner observes your driving techniques. The current pass rate for bike tests is 53%.

Last year The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) asked for views from general public on proposals to split the existing practical test into two separate modules. This is being done with a view of giving the would-be bikers a better start in their motorcycle career.

As per the plan the existing practical test will be divided, with applicants being required to clear the first module initially. It will have a series of specific exercises such as averting and stops under urgent situations at a minimum speed of 55kph. Clearing this will automatically approve the applicant to move forwards to the second module which will have an eyesight test followed by drills on road. Applicants failing to clear the second module will not be required to retake the module one test if they pass the subsequent module within two years of clearing the first module.

The new system will see the same theory test element and applicants will be required to pass the written exam before taking their practical test – the practice that is followed now as well.

7 Tips to Save your Hard Earned Money While Getting Your Web Site Designed.

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

How many times you come across a site thinking you could have done a better job if only you knew how to design a website? More than 70% of internet population thinks the same way but is clueless about criteria that constitute a good web design that is if you asked them which elements give away a professional website, they wouldn’t be able to tell you. What they can identify, although subconsciously, is a bad web design. Here are few points that form the building blocks of a good site and make sure you read them all before beginning the process of designing yourself or hiring someone to do it.

Plan
Know what you want. Do not leave it on designers to tell you what will you need. A designer’s job is to tell you the perfect way of putting information to ensure that people get the general idea even while glancing, but he is not the best judge on WHAT to put. It will help you a lot if you have a plan with you from the beginning.

Make your site Consistent
Header, footers, logos, text and navigation should be consistent all throughout the web pages. Studies show that a visitor is not likely stay on a site which is either confusing or has mismatched content.

Keep the layout logical
Don’t try to play too much with the standard layouts that come with templates. Check if the most important page elements are visible and logically connected? I once saw a site that had contact us link on every page but did not have any contact information within those links.

Accessibility
When designing your site, keep in mind that one out of six people visiting your site are disabled in one way or another. Some can be colour blind, others too old to read small fonts or some may have difficulty reading through a poor contrasted page. All these factors have a huge impact on the perception of your brand.

Avoid using fancy fonts:
Though fancy fonts look good but are extremely difficult to read and their use should be restricted to logos and branding. For easy readability, use standard sized san serif font.

Use free web tracking tools
Google and Alexa offer a series of webmaster tools that can help you to track who is coming to your site, what are users clicking while on your site and which pages they are exiting to.

Promote
What good is a website that is simply laying on Internet without people realising it that it is there. You need to promote your business every day to let others know what is it that you offer and how are you different than the other companies/people in the industry. It is all about creating a good impression and retaining it. if you don’t know the art of online marketing, hire an expert for it. World Wide Web has a vast potential and you need to tap if before someone else takes away your potential clients.

If you live in London or near North London area, Middlesex, Barnet, Harrow, Brent, Edgware, Finchley, Borehamwood, Mill Hill, Colindale, Hendon, Canons park, Stanmore and Crouch end; you can contact your local web designing and SEO firm. Indigo, which is a very well known name in the designing segment, can guide you in the best way to create and maintain a personal or professional website. It has plans that begin at a very low rate of £170 per annum and can be customised according to your needs and preferences.

E-Commerce websites that work and ACTUALLY generate money

More than half of the world’s population dreams of earning through the Internet. Companies are hiring high end designers and developers to create E-commerce sites that are not only attractive but also ensure a high level consumer spending. Those are rich companies and can afford to spend thousands every month to keep their IT team busy, but what can you, a commoner, do to increase profitability and reduce maintenance cost?
To see a rise in profits from existing visitors, four things matter:
· A robust website
Apart than credible and original content, a good ecommerce site should lave accurate information and easy functionality. The visitors should be able to customised information as per own preference. Sites like Mylook and Slashdot.org offer customization features that allow users to filter the content they see. “One – to – one” websites are fast becoming the future of the Web. These database- driven sites automatically adapt the content, look and even advertising to individual users. These are made using technologies like Web Objects and Cold Fusion, which allow webmasters to create interactive, dynamic, and adaptive web sites.

· Ecommerce site optimization
Once you know who is coming to your site and what are the users clicking, you need to do some testing to see what they like and what they don’t like. Is your logo too encrypted? Does that “order here” link make customers exit from your site? Is your content not unique? Maybe the 1-800 numbers will help to track preferences where potential customers need someone to talk to and understand more deeply about the product or service. Do multivariate testing which will allow you to manipulate various elements of your website. It can be used to track which links have the best success at turning visitors into buyers or leads.
If you can spend some time in learning Google Analytics, you can easily set up multivariate testing and if you don’t have time for that – hire an expert to do that.

· Opening new revenue streams.
After you've done research on where people are coming from and which sites they go to from your site, you will definitely know what makes them buy. An analysis of this information can help you to increase your ecommerce site revenue. If you own a content oriented site, you can sell Ads on your site. If you have a series of products or services, opening up an affiliate program is a good idea as it not only will boost sales, but will also help your SEO process, as affiliates will link directly to your site.

Indigo SEO: A successful case study

SEO or search engine optimisation is a tricky business. Typically it targets different types of search, which includes local search, phrase specific search, image search, and industry-specific vertical search. It is the tool that ensures a good website presence of a web site.

As the latest Internet marketing strategy, it takes into consideration the methodology that search engines follow to index web pages according to the keywords people use to search something particular. Optimizing web pages mainly involve editing the text on it and sometimes modifying the HTML coding associated with it. This increases the relevance of specific keywords and pushes the indexing activities of search engines for that particular page or site.

With the kind of traffic it can get to your site, many companies have started making the budget for this kind of marketing as well. The optimization projects are carried by SEO firms on behalf of their clients and if the company is big, it may hire full time professionals to perform on-house SEO services. It in itself has become an industry and organisations that got into it initially are reaping huge benefits out of it.

Many companies offer improved search engine rankings but choosing the one which can give you the best return on investment and delivers on promises is difficult. Therefore there are very few authentic success stories on search engine optimization on the web and here is one that I have researched and really liked:

> North London Motorcycle Training
www.northlondon-mct.co.uk

· SEO done by: www.indigoideas.co.uk

· Business Challenge
North London Motorcycle Training offers tuition from CBT to Advanced Rider Training. The company had a website but was unable to tap the complete market. Like other websites, their content was also focused on everything under the sun and had no keyword specific text. The visibility with the search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask was poor and the site failed to register itself within the first few pages.

· Solution offered
Indigo deployed its people to rewrite the text in a search engine friendly tone and uploaded new pages to the site. Apart than that it worked continuously on selected phrases and optimised them to get best results. Appropriate keyword tags were used across each webpage which increased keyword links throughout the website. The site currently ranks 1 for the chosen keywords, one of which is CBT London North.
